Charlotte & James’ Stunning September Wedding

Hosted on Saturday 9th September 2023 (one of the hottest days of the year), Charlotte & James tied the knot in a village that was just a stone’s throw from the Fiona Curry Flowers studio. It was an utter joy to work with this couple to bring their flower visions to life, and we are thrilled to be able to share a snippet from their very special day with you on the journal.

Charlotte was a vision, wearing a long-sleeved gown with delicate lace detailing. She wore her sun kissed blonde hair in an elegant yet relaxed up-do, which was the perfect fit for their laidback and luxurious event. We created the most beautiful trailing bridal bouquet – it looked like a painting! The bouquet itself was brimming with David Austin Wedding Roses in shades of soft ivory and pale peach, which looked divine alongside pale pink Antirrhinum, light blue Delphinium, white Scabiosa and oodles of natural foliage. The bridesmaids looked delightful in an array of mix and match gowns featuring various blue shades, with abundant bouquets that complemented the bridal bouquet wonderfully. An ivory satin ribbon tied around the stems added that all-important finishing touch to the bridesmaid bouquets!

After a traditional religious ceremony in the village church (with flowers by the lovely ladies at the church), friends and family walked to the reception together to unveil the exquisite marquee at the family home. The newlyweds, however, made their own way to their celebration in a beautiful vintage car – the perfect way to arrive in true style.

As guests arrived at the marquee, they were greeted by the most beautiful setting with luxurious floral design. Long wooden trestle tables were adorned with garlands (which came to 54 metres), overflowing with ‘Purity’ Roses by David Austin, Garden Roses in the palest peach hue, pink Lisianthus and Antirrhinum, ivory Scabious and Phlox, light blue Delphinium and mixed pink Dahlia – all of which was mixed with deep green natural foliage. Our silver tealights and glass taper candle holders were gracefully scattered along the tables which offered a subtle ambience throughout the reception.

Our team at Fiona Curry Flowers created three large hanging installations to further elevate the marquee styling, with light pink flowers and blue Delphiniums, large branches of Silver Birch and oodles of greenery. For an extra hint of magic, we worked in twinkling fairy lights that looked show-stopping against the backdrop of the sunset later on in the evening.

This was without a doubt one of the hottest days of the year, and even though Fiona (our Founder) once owned a flower shop in Southern Italy for many years, even she had never felt so warm working at a wedding! Fiona explains, “My team were outstanding and were full of beaming smiles after working for two days onsite in such high temperatures. I was so very proud of them and their work.”

As always, a huge thank you to Charlotte & James’ photographer, Richard Greenly, for capturing their beautiful story on camera. We hope you have enjoyed soaking up the floral inspiration. Don’t forget, if you are looking for a luxury florist for your wedding day, we welcome you to get in touch!

An Elegant Wedding at Avington Park

Avington Park stands as an exquisite canvas for unforgettable weddings. Nestled in pristine Hampshire countryside, its timeless elegance offers couples a romantic haven where they can say, ‘I Do’. The stately 17th Century home boasts stunning architecture, opulent interiors, and enchanting gardens that provide a dreamy backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. Its rich history lends an air of grandeur, while versatile spaces accommodate both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations. From the regal Great Hall to the picturesque lakeside, every corner whispers of love stories. It was a pleasure to work with this dreamy couple to create their luxury floral design at Avington Park and I invite you to scroll through a snippet of their very special day…

“Guests absolutely raved about Fiona Curry’s sumptuous florals displayed throughout the Avington Park venue. She and her team brought our luxury wedding aesthetic to life exactly as we’d envisioned. I had to pinch myself when I walked into the ceremony room! Flowers were such a key element of our wedding that Fiona was only the second supplier (after the venue) that we hired. Throughout the months, she listened, gently guided, and never pressured us into ordering more – always cognizant of cost and budget. Fiona also prepared beautiful flowers for our pre-wedding event. And bonus: I feel like I made a wonderful friend in the process. From the bottom of my heart, Fiona, THANK YOU for making our wedding weekend the best of my life!”

Having worked at Avington Park a handful times, I knew how beautiful it was, which only added to my excitement of working with the soon-to-be newlyweds here. Hosted on Saturday 8th July 2023, the couple were graced with glorious summer sunshine throughout their wedding weekend. They actually began celebrating the day before with an informal BBQ and activities on the grounds of Avington Park estate, as they had guests flying in from around the world and wanted to make the most of their time together. My team and I arrived at the venue to decorate the spaces with bud vases, flickering candles and decadent arrangements that were dotted around for the guests to relax and unwind in. The King Charles room was the first room guests would enter upon arrival, so we wanted to make sure it had the wow-factor from the second they stepped in. The lovely Alice of Avington Park was on hand to help throughout the set-up!

Our beautiful bride-to-be was a vision, carrying a bouquet of pillow-soft blooms, including roses, peonies and white hydrangeas. She was wearing a strapless gown, which was the perfect match for her blush pink and ivory flowers. Her husband-to-be had a few buds from her bridal bouquet to pop into his buttonhole.

The stairs that led to the Versailles Room (where the ceremony was being held) were an opportunity to create a statement ‘aisle’ focus. On the day of the wedding, we entwined the stairs with exquisite blush roses, oodles of natural foliage and swathes of falling ivy – the epitome of understated elegance. There’s no doubt about it – the Versailles Room was utterly breathtaking and we so enjoyed filling the space with our signature tall clear pedestals and large billowing arrangements on tall glass vases that gracefully lined the aisle. As you entered the room, on the lefthand side was a stunning and vast mirror, which we artfully adorned with an arrangement of full blush blooms. At the top of the room, an additional huge mirror filled the space, which we styled with matching blush posies as well as tall blousy white delphiniums for an extra dose of glamour, drama and luxury.

After vows had been exchanged, my team and I returned to the ceremony space to repurpose some of the flowers for the reception, using the floral arrangements in the Orangery for table centrepieces. The mirror designs were delicately placed along the top table and on the floor, offering a natural look that looked as though the flowers were growing up the table. The other tables were dressed in pale pink tapered candles in glass holders, along with glass tea lights filled with light pink tea candles. A show-stopping, light and airy space, the Orangery had a seating area where guests could take a few moments to relax and soak up the wedding magic. To style the area, it was filled with furniture from Pippa at W Collection. Cushions and throws in a soft pink palette added a hint of romance to the décor – not to mention the guest chairs for the wedding breakfast.

The bride had fallen head over heels in love with our FCF signature cake flowers, ordering them in a soft pink shade for her wedding cake, which effortlessly became a focal point of the wedding day. It was an absolute joy to work with the newlyweds and to be a part of their elegant occasion at Avington Park – we already can’t wait to return.

Summer Wedding at Northbrook Park

Nestled in the very heart of Hampshire’s countryside, Northbrook Park stands proudly as one of the UK’s most timeless wedding venues, boasting picturesque landscapes, a stunning manor house and an enchanting walled garden. With its blend of elegance and natural beauty, it provided Marie and Ollie the perfect canvas to craft their dream wedding in July earlier this year. It brings me a huge amount of pleasure to be able to share a glimpse from their very special day with you, so keep scrolling for all the floral wedding inspiration you could ever need.

A fun-loving couple with a focus on style and elegance, Marie and Ollie approached Fiona Curry Flowers with the brief of an all-white colour scheme, beautifully complemented with subtle touches of pale blue. From the moment I met this perfect pair, I could effortlessly envision how their wedding day would unfold at Northbrook Park and just knew the colour scheme was a fabulous fit for the setting.

I worked with the bride to create the concept for her bridal bouquet, using an array of white roses, spray roses, white stock and delicate pale blue delphiniums that enhanced the all-white feel, rather than overtaking it. For that all-important finishing touch, we wrapped the stems of her wedding bouquet with pale blue satin ribbon and charming pearl pins for an extra hint of luxury. Marie’s bouquet worked wonderfully alongside her wedding dress, which featured an off-the-shoulder Bardot neckline by Suzanne Neville, while she wore her hair in a half-up half-down style.

Marie’s bridesmaids looked utterly divine in a selection of mix and match dusty blue gowns (as a nod to the couple’s colour palette). Their bridesmaid bouquets featured the same blooms as the bride-to-be (as daintier versions) and were bound with soft ivory satin instead – the contrast looked gorgeous against the hue of their gowns. When it came to the groom and his groomsmen, my team and I created white rose buds for the buttonholes.

As guests gradually made their way to the ceremony space, they were wowed by the floral décor in the Vine Room, where we had artfully adorned the fireplace with a column that trailed all the way to the floor. The flower display was brimming with white roses, spray roses, stock, phlox and pale blue delphinium, a touch of white hydrangea and eucalyptus. We also filled the fireplace with flickering chapel candles displayed in tall cylinder vases which worked beautifully with the light and airy space of the Vine Room. The aisle was styled with tall clear pedestals and tall glass vases that added a statement with the same flowers as the fireplace, framing where Marie and Ollie would say, ‘I Do’. Pillow-soft ivory petals lined the aisle, leading the way to infinity.

Following the ceremony, our team at Fiona Curry Flowers returned to repurpose the tall vases of flowers on the tables and low glass footed vases with the same flowers that filled the rest of the room. The fireplace arrangement and candles were also redesigned to decorate the top table, which was utterly stunning. As a luxury wedding florist, I always collaborate with my couples to discover ways to re-use their beautiful blooms throughout their wedding day. It also offers us the opportunity to get truly creative with our flower designs!

A huge thank you to Sarah Legge Photography for sharing the most exquisite imagery of Marie and Ollie’s wedding day with us – it is a joy to be able to relive their celebration over and over again. If you’re newly engaged and looking for a wedding florist to create your elegant flower vision, I’d love to hear from you!

A ‘Walled Garden’ Wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire

When Mellina and Tom approached me to create the luxury flower design for their Hampshire wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel, I just knew the occasion was going to be utterly enchanting. Set amid rolling hills, enticing gardens and over 500 acres of countryside, this Georgian manor house promises the perfect setting for a quintessentially English wedding. Keep scrolling to immerse yourself in the floral delights of Mellina & Tom’s walled garden wedding…

Hosted on Saturday 2nd July 2022, the weather delivered a day of endless sunshine with a delicate and welcome summer breeze. The bride-to-be was incredibly lovely and an absolute pleasure to work with. Mellina had a clear vision in mind, while allowing my floral creativity to shine through in each and every design. The brief was for feminine flowers that were full, voluminous and textured, embracing the romance of the location. And… we did just that!

Mellina looked a vision wearing a Lyn Ashworth Gown, purchased from the Wedding Atelier in Paddington. Her make-up artist, Melissa Clare, created a natural yet glamorous look. The bride’s trailing bridal bouquet was brimming with everything that Mellina adored, from elegant orchids to a touch of mint for a subtle and natural scent that carried throughout the day. Pillow-soft blush pink roses also made an appearance, effortlessly tying in with the pink gowns that the bridesmaids were wearing. The sweetest flower girls wore gypsophila flower crowns while carrying wicker baskets overflowing with petals.

As the bride and her team of ‘maids glided down the walled garden ready for the ceremony, the flowers we had designed looked beautiful against the backdrop of the Four Seasons Hotel. Dainty pink posies with long flowing trails of foliage that touched the floor were tied to the ceremony chairs using ivory satin ribbon, featuring tails that gracefully danced with the breeze. The couple had their hearts set on a flower arch, which we create using big blousy blooms wrapped with swatches of soft ivory fabric.

After the newlyweds had exchanged their vows under the blue skies, Mellina and Tom made their way into the Mandeville Suite for their reception. Round guest tables were styled to absolute perfection, alongside a thoughtful mixture of tall glass vases with large arrangements that matched the bridal flowers and luxurious white Phlox, as well as tables with lowered flower arrangements and the addition of our FCF vintage gold tea lights. It really was a sight to behold!

A Late Summer Wedding for Tilly & Charlie

Set amongst the English countryside, you’ll find Wotton House, a wedding venue boasting magnificent Italian renaissance gardens. The setting is elegantly engulfed in nature, adorned with Roman temples, and topped off with the peaceful River Tillingbourne flowing through the grounds. Tilly and Charlie couldn’t have chosen a more romantic backdrop for their wedding in September 2022 and it was a pleasure to work with this couple to provide them with luxury florals.

The couple were looking for the essence of classical romance for their wedding flowers, choosing fragrant white blooms that were overflowing with eucalyptus and olive foliage, a subtle nod to the heritage of the venue. Greeting the bride and her bridesmaids in the room where they gathered to get ready for this perfect day, I couldn’t help but enjoy the delicate fragrance of all the fresh flowers, as well as the Mimosa and Cardamom Jo Malone candles that were setting the tone for the day. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my brides’ reactions to their wedding flowers, and Tilly’s was certainly no exception.

Tilly chose a stunning and opulent design for her bouquet of long-stemmed white roses, complemented by her bridesmaids’ bouquets, which had the addition of golden fern entwined adding a touch of luxe to their wedding flowers.  Wearing an off the shoulder gown called ‘Jess’ by Eva Lendel, a Ukranian designer, bought through the amazing Ellie Sanderson team, Tilly’s bouquet was the perfect final touch to her bridal attire. A pair of vintage 1977 Chanel earrings, gifted by her groom-to-be, completed her aisle style, ready to make her entrance at the ceremony.

Wotton House is renowned for hosting stunning ceremonies in their Old Library, with its spectacular high ceilings, marble fireplace and 17th Century pillars. Tilly and Charlie had one of the most memorable ceremonies imaginable, where we dressed the venue with tall translucent vases brimming with ivory hydrangeas, Mallows and white roses engulfed in green foliage. Overhead, fairy lights twinkled as Tilly walked down the aisle, where a warm glow and undeniable feeling of love filled the room. A matching flower piece gracefully adorned their ceremony table, effortlessly tying their floral theme together.

Walking into their reception in the Evelyn Suite surrounded by their favourite people, Charlie and Tilly chose to carefully coordinate their table centrepieces to align with the rest of the floral design. The flowers chosen by the couple were the perfect fit for the suite, working alongside their on-the-day stationery by Bewilderly that was placed on the tables for guests to enjoy. Candles softly flickered next to the abundance of flowers, and it was clear to see that the lavish décor of the suite was everything the couple had hoped for.

I’ll never tire of looking back at Tilly and Charlie’s wonderful wedding day at Wotton House, it was an honour to bring their floral visions to life through romantic wedding flowers.
